The Buckingham is the ultimate in handmade open coil sprung mattresses. It has been manufactured for in excess of sixty years and is one of the oldest, if not the oldest; mattress of it's kind. Whereas most open coil units employ 288 individual springs in the standard double size, the Buckingham employs 375 such springs. This product is offered in firm/orthopaedic tension or standard tension.

Filling Specification

Woollen Typar insulator which is hand stitched to the spring and layers of wool. Over 35lbs of wool are used in the upholstery of the standard double size.

Finishing Specification

The border is reinforced by four rows of hand side stitching which includes the famous Buckingham trademark of two rolled edges on the top and bottom of the border. Four reinforced flag stitched handles are added to all sizes along with solid brass ventilators to allow the mattress to breathe. Finally the mattress is tufted with white felt washers attached by hand with cotton popins.
