Burgess was established in 1927 by Harry Burgess and was incorporated as a limited company in 1955.(Company number 552052).

Throughout its long history, quality hand crafted beds have been manufactured for the home, hospitals, hotels, shipping lines and many more institutions.

The Rovers Return in Shudehill in 1920.

"I read with great interest the recent article about the researchers who discovered a "Rovers Return" beer house in Manchester in the 1920s. I can remember the Rovers return which faced the hen market in Shudehill. It was next to the Burgess Bedding factory.Unfortunately the inn was allowed to fall into disrepair and in time became an antique shop. After the war, the building was demolished - I doubt if that would be allowed to happen today. I am enclosing a picture of the Rovers Return from my collection of bygone Manchester."

The Manchester Miller
